Wow…there are a lot of people online with masks in their profile pics! In the past I’ve angrily confronted some of these people, pointing out that you can’t catch Covid over the internet so why do you need a mask in your profile pic.
The answer is actually pretty interesting!
They feel they need to display their masking so that “masking becomes normalised”.
Whilst I understand better now, I’m wholly opposed to masking becoming normalised.
Prior to the pandemic it was widely accepted that masks are not effective in preventing viral transmission, but for some reason at the beginning of the pandemic, this wisdom was abandoned.
Early days, I could understand this, since the virus was pretty new on the scene. But as time has gone by, the arguments for masks has gotten shakier and shakier.
Nonetheless, some still hold on.
In case you’re wondering, the lady with the mask just over her nose, it’s apparently something that Dentists were using at one point.
I’ve set this to Muse’s “Compliance”, because it fits so nicely.
The way I see it, the primary reason for asking people to wear masks was a compliance test. One I failed.
